‘Drawing from deep ecology, systems theory and spiritual traditions, the Work That Reconnects (WTR) is a set of insights and practices that builds motivation, creativity, courage and solidarity for the transition to a sustainable human culture.’
It brings a new way of seeing the world, as our larger living body, freeing us from the assumptions and attitudes that now threaten the continuity of life on Earth.
It is a pioneering form of group work that began in the 1970s by eco-philosopher, Buddhist and systems analyst Joanna Macy. It demonstrates our interconnectedness in the web of life and our authority to take action on its behalf. It has helped many thousands around the globe find insight, solidarity and courage to act, despite rapidly worsening conditions.
The Work supports a revolution of our time: the “Great Turning” from the industrial growth society to a life-sustaining civilization.
More information about the Work That Reconnect and Joanna Macy can be found here.
Workshops based on the book Active Hope, which is rooted in the Work That reconnects.
“Active Hope is about finding, and offering, our best response to the crisis of sustainability unfolding in our world. It offers tools that help us face the mess we’re in, as well as find and play our role in the collective transition, or Great Turning, to a life-sustaining society.” Chris Johnstone.
In Cornwall & Devon we have been holding meetings a few times a year to support permaculture & transition practitioners and others who work for Life on Earth. We call them Zone 00 meetings referring to permaculture zoning, zone 00 being our inner world. See courses and events page for the next date.
I offer short workshops on permaculture courses and appropriate events.
